It’s my birthday!
Well, not quite. And not mine. Of course I plan to have a birthday within the next twelve months, but I had TAMONITOR in mind when celebrating my next significant milestone. And, strictly speaking it’s not even TAMONITOR’s significant birthday, but you’ll see why.
What’s undeniable is that in 2016 it will be 20 years since I sold the first commercial version of TAMONITOR’s predecessor, RheMOS. Conceived over a beer in a pub with a clinician and born out of a garden shed, the monitoring software system has grown up and today is almost unrecognisable from its initial form.
True, we’ve lost the odd site over the years and we’ve picked up one or two sites from competitors along the way… But wait a minute. This is a time for celebration, so here’s the first toast to those sites that have stayed with us. And one site in particular that’s not far off 16 years of continuous use. You know who you are and we salute you for your vision! Serving 15 consultants, 12 specialist nurses, 3 specialisms, over 3,750 patients and around 80 GP practices directly or indirectly – Queen Elizabeth Hospital Gateshead continues to expand its use of TAMONITOR.
We’ve come a long way since the early days of dial-up modems and individual PC installs and if we deserve a long service award (in IT terms) with the NHS, so do our users. Technology has enabled us to offer more of a service than a product, and TAMONITOR has morphed into other services with the result that our portfolio now benefits over a hundred thousand people across England. And dare I whisper it without tempting fate – this week I am demonstrating TAMONITOR in a prestigious hospital in China.
And why not? If so many people can benefit from our technology for so long in this country then why not elsewhere? It would be a fitting birthday present to ourselves if we could see our service adopted in China. Maybe there’s life in this old TAMONITOR dog yet.
And to prove that TAMONITOR is still developing, this significant birthday will be celebrated with an equally significant (and free) upgrade that introduces a host of new features.
So, however tenuous the birthday connection it’s still a milestone and it’s still significant, and we’re going to celebrate it. Orange juice anyone?’
