New TACCARD+ release builds upon 5 years experience of c-card scheme implementation in London and elsewhere
A recent report from the BBC notes a reduction in teenage pregnancy of 10% over the previous year.
While that’s welcome, Public Health England feels that it is important not only to sustain this low level but reduce it further to bring the UK in line with the rest of Europe. The article also suggests that the reduction demonstrates a continuing trend towards older motherhood.
We’d like to think that the encouraging reduction has also been in significant part due to the success of c-card schemes. And we’ve played our small part here too.
We’ve been supporting c-card schemes like Come Correct across London and similar schemes in Cambridge, Hertfordshire and Suffolk for some time now.
Such c-card schemes provide sexual health advice, chlamydia testing and free condoms to young people, and are being extended in many areas to support over 25 year-olds, with universal coverage in some areas .
Sustaining a reduced level of teenage pregnancy is essential. Even better would be to reduce it still further. With this trend in mind we are pleased to be able to announce a number of significant improvements to our existing c-card support service, TACCARD.
