Tracking the time taken from identification of an alert to its subsequent dismissal (action taken).

TAMonitor™ from THERAPYAUDIT Limited is a web-based therapeutic drug monitoring solution which has proven effectiveness in the monitoring of patients on a range of treatments.

The web-based technology behind TAMonitor enables it to act as a hub in the flow of information between the stakeholders associated with HIV monitoring.  As shown in the diagram, blood results and patient demographics can be passed through an interface (such as HL7) to the TAMonitor database, in which sophisticated rules can be maintained for individual, or groups of patients.  The rules identify abnormal results, abnormal trends in results, and patients who haven't attended for testing when expected (DNA).

Once these triggers are activated information can be escalated to any of the stakeholders, for example to patients (by SMS) to recall for testing, or to pharmacists.  In the case of clinicians:

  • urgent abnormals can be escalated to on-call clinicians for them to deal with in conjunction with patients by phone or other method, recording action taken so that information is visible to all other TAMonitor users;

  • less important alerts can be escalated to regular clinicians who can record relevant information in the patient profile along with other data such as details of HAART treatment.

In addition to the proactive way in which TAMonitor flows information, access can be provided to TAMonitor for clinical and pharmacy users over the N3 network.
